Yeast Odyssey is a tool to identify the different habitats of a given Fungi species or genus. The taxon can be searched in 365842 samples from publicly available ITS sequencing data collected from 149 countries and see in what places it is most found.

The sequencing files have first been downloaded from NCBI SRA. Second, taxonomic assignation has been performed on each file using Kraken 2, a metagenomic and metabarcoding assignation tool, with a reference database built from the MIMt sequencing enriched with custom sequences. Using the associated metadata, each sample has been associated to categories from the OntoBiotope ontology. A database containing the abundances expressed in proportion of reads in each sample of each genus and each species was built to have a global overview of the places where they can be found. Various filters are available to include or exclude samples based on geographic location, ontology categories or abundances.
